A single recorded backing vocal can be made to sound like a group or choir in a number of different ways. Creating delayed copies of the sound, and varying their position in time, is basically the name of the game, but you can do it with simple parallel delays, or with grains using Pitch Shifter, or with phase inversion in Comb Filter… or… maybe you have even more ideas.
