Watch Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey talk about growing up in the 70s, where he was addicted to horror movies. Listen as he talks about his horror-themed influences as, like many back then, he was captivated by creature features and Gothic horror films from the early 60s, including "Night of the Living Dead." The first song he ever heard from Black Sabbath was "Black Sabbath," and listen as he tells how it felt like all those horror influences were incarnated into the music of Sabbath. The first three notes of the song horrified him with their powerful and deadly sound, changing him forever. It completely redefined his idea of what was heavy and set him on a path where he could see nothing else but guitar thus explaining the horror-tinged themes of Type O Negative and his crushing, heavy riffs reminiscent of horror soundtracks of the 70s.
