Trace Bundy Acoustic Guitar Lesson: “Canon” | ELIXIR Strings

Thought to date back to the late 17th/early18th century, Pachelbel’s Canon is among the best-known Baroque compositions thanks, in part, to its featuring in countless wedding ceremonies over the last few decades.

Elixir Strings artist Trace Bundy’s arrangement of Canon for solo acoustic guitar is an inspirational re-working of the piece, attracting millions of views on YouTube. Performed in DADGAD tuning, the complete piece showcases a wide variety of techniques and in this short video lesson, Trace takes you through a two-handed tapping section featuring bassline and melody.

Explaining why he’s a fan of Elixir Strings Trace says, “When I’m performing, I’m sliding up and down the fretboard, moving capos mid-song and trying to hit harmonics on their sweet spot. I love that Elixir Strings don’t ever hold me back or slow me down in the way that uncoated strings have the tendency to.”
