Celebrating 50 Years with Chris Martin IV

A new year means new milestones for Martin Guitar, and this year is a special one.

Join Chris Martin IV in the Martin Museum as he looks back on his time with the company and the 35 years of quality craftsmanship from Martin’s talented family of coworkers in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico.

This April, Chris celebrates his 50th year with Martin Guitar, and to honor the occasion, his namesake company proudly presents the D-50 CFM IV 50th Anniversary – a guitar that that embodies his unwavering commitment to crafting the finest acoustic guitars in the world.

This full gloss guitar features Guatemalan rosewood back and sides, a stunning heavy bearclaw spruce top, European flamed maple binding, and intricate abalone and mother of pearl inlay. It also proudly displays a signed, numbered label commemorating Chris’ 50 years of service and comes with a special carbon fiber molded hardshell case.

Not only does 2024 mark 50 years of Chris’ stewardship, but it also marks 35 years since the start of Martin’s factory in Navojoa. Opened in 1989, the factory started off supplementing Martin’s strings business. Today, it employs hundreds and has grown to manufacture all Martin-branded strings, as well as Martin’s Backpacker, LX, Junior, X Series, and Road Series guitars, and select ukuleles.

Crafted in Navojoa, the limited-edition D-CFM IV 50th Anniversary is the most ornate Martin ever built in Mexico. It features a gloss finish, quilted pommele sapele back and sides, a bearclaw spruce top, satin flamed mahogany neck, and classic “Tree of Life” inlays on the fingerboard and headplate with a matching rosette presented in beautiful Paua pearl.

This model also has a signed, numbered label commemorating both Chris’ 50 years of service and the rich lineup of innovations originating in Navojoa. It’s the pinnacle of Martin guitars built in Mexico.

Both guitars are true collectors’ items, with only 50 available worldwide.
