By cramping a ton of delay repeats together really really closely, you can create an oscillation with some very physically realistic characteristics. This Karplus-Strong method is great for strings, as well as glassy or metallic sounds, and can deliver struck, plucked, bowed, or blown sounds, depending on the profile of the exciting impulse. But tuning it properly is dead fiddly unless you’re good at mathematics, which I’m not. Still, there’s a nice wide open world of cool sounds to explore in there, so have at it folks!
