Ever forgotten to record room tone on a film set? Or needed to construct one for animation or fantastical environments? It’s always nice to use real field recordings and sampled ambience where possible, but there’s a lot you can synthesise, if you need to really dial in something specific, or if you need a sound you can control and modulate responsively, with a MIDI controller in a live theatre situation for example.
