Use Comb Filter for awesome mono-compatible stereo widening. It creates sides by delaying the sound, then flipping the polarity of only the right channel of the delayed signal. That way you get perfectly wide, perfectly negatively correlated stereo sides, while leaving your original mono sound (your mid) untouched. Nifty.
