Derek Jones Bass Guitar Lesson - The Right Tool For The Job: Using A Pick For Bass! | ELIXIR Strings

Moving between alternating picking (up and down strokes) and downstrokes allows a rhythmic emphasis to be placed on different notes. So give your thumb a break and pick up a pick!

Think that funky basslines can’t be played with a pick? Think again! While fingerstyle and slap techniques are ideal for groove music, using a pick can also be super-funky, particularly in combination with some palm-muting for that old-school vibe.
