Justin & Jamie look at very rare and unique EQD Overdrive

Hello Pedal lovers!
We’re back with another episode of This Old Bench with your bearded and aproned host EQD builder Justin Seeker. In this trip to the basement, Justin welcomes back EQD founder, President, and Lead Designer Jamie Stillman to talk about an extremely rare pedal from his personal collection, The Royal Drive.
Enjoy the relaxed banter as Jamie and Justin highlight the pedal’s unique hammered spray-paint coating, "hand sprayed in a garage, no mask. Which probably explains a lot," Jamie surmises about his early days as a pedal maker.
The Royal Drive is one of Jamie’s favorites, and he and Justin ponder why it never made it to full production in the EarthQuaker Devices line.
Then listen closely as the pair open it up to reveal the Royal Drive’s DIY, veroboard guts. Jamie whips out a Jazzmaster and jams a bit as we listen and learn about the Royal Drive’s interesting internal dipswitch setup. The dipswitch allows the lucky Royal Drive owner (of which there are fewer than 10) to try out various combinations of LED, Mosfet, silicon, and asymmetrical diodes to sculpt their signature overdrive tone.
"I’m really happy with this pedal," Jamie says.
We hope you are happy with this fun look at one of EQD’s early and most rare pedals, straight outta the basement.
