On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas is joined once again by iconic Finnish guitarist – and BluGuitar endorser – Euge Valovirta, in an episode that has been a long time coming!
Recognized as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation in the heavy metal heaven that is Finland, Euge has also been one of our most highly requested guests to return to AoT ever since his debut way back in Episode 72 (which is here, in case you missed it first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMS8c26RVKQ).
Back then, Euge and Thomas talked tone, music and their careers to date, and they jammed some killer tracks together on AMP1 and Euge’s infamous Marshall JCM 800 “Bad Boy” amp!
Since the last show, Euge has been on the road all over the world – with AMP1 Iridium as his portable amp of choice along the way – with his CYHRA and RED WOLF projects. He’s also seen his own YouTube channel, where he offers gear reviews and guitar and music production tutorials, grow immensely. On top of all that, he took on numerous production jobs at his Switzerland studio, where he returned to the old-school technique of micing real speaker cabinets to achieve the most crushing guitar tones.
On this week’s show, Thomas and Euge will fire up some more high-octane jams with AMP1 and the Bad Boy, and they’ll discuss the whole “real speakers” thing, different micing techniques, and the other option – how to get the best results when recording direct!
The guys will also talk about Euge’s most recent studio album, Shooting From The Hip, and Euge will teach Thomas some of the album’s hottest licks!
