Creating Smarter & Safer Autonomous Technology with TTTech & The Autonomous

In this episode of HARMAN’s interview series “The Next Wave,” Young Sohn is joined by Georg Kopetz, Co-Founder & CEO, TTTech Group, and Ricky Hudi, Chairman, The Autonomous, in Vienna, Austria. Young’s relationship with both Georg and Ricky goes back years, with Young sitting on the supervisory board of TTTech Auto and Ricky counseling Young and the Samsung team when they acquired HARMAN. The trio of friends and colleagues discussed the founding of TTTech and the initiative behind The Autonomous.

Founded as a spin-off of the Technical University of Vienna when he was 23, Georg started TTTech with the vision to advance safe technologies to improve human life – from cars to planes and industrial machines. Ricky, who lead early autonomous efforts while at Audi, is a strong believer in the future of autonomous mobility. Safety, like at TTTech, is a main driver behind The Autonomous’ initiative – as 90 percent of all accidents are because of human behavior. Autonomous mobility will also help to rid today’s cities of traffic and reduce environmental pollution. The road to safe, autonomous mobility, however, is not a marathon, but a triathlon.

As TTTech’s Chief Executive Officer, Georg is responsible for the overall strategy of the corporation, marketing, sales, finance and human resources. He also serves as the Managing Director of TTTech’s joint-venture company TTControl in Brixen/Bressanone, Italy. After attending school in Germany, Austria and the US, he studied law at the University of Vienna in Austria and at the Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) in France.

Ricky Hudi is a mobility technology pioneer with 30 years of experience in the automotive and technology industry. After holding various roles at BMW AG, he served as Executive Vice President Development Electrics/Electronics AUDI AG. In 2016, Hudi founded his own company, Future Mobility Technologies (FMT) for the design and development of technologies to enable Autonomous Driving, Digital Cockpit, Digitization and SW End-to-End Architectures. He is Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for HERE, Chairman of the Advisory Board for the International Congress of Automotive Electronics in Ludwigsburg and serves on the Open Innovation Advisory Board for Samsung and on the Technology Council for HARMAN. Ricky Hudi is also co-founder for TTTech Auto AG in Vienna and Chairman of "The Autonomous".
