In the latest EQD Session, The unstoppable rock n’ roll force that is Thelma & The Sleaze offers a quick double injection of rockin’ tunes aimed directly at your eye and ear holes. The Nashville quartet fronted by singer-songwriter-guitarist Lauren Gilbert, a.k.a “Queen of Shit Mountain,” made a stop by the Akron Recording Company with a few EQD pedals nestled on their pedalboards.
The band opens with “In Prison,” an uptempo rockin’ blues-a-billy rager with L.G. (as we like to call her) using the Plumes overdrive for a good consistent chuggin’ rhythm. L.G. then stomps on the Night Wire harmonic tremolo to make her melodic solo really swirl and pop out of the mix.
Next up, the band switches gears and gets a little funky with the pleading “Stay.” Bassist Molly Martin a.k.a Chubz lays down the tune’s toe-tapping main riff from the Westwood discrete overdrive plus some extra sonic beef and old tube-style break-up from the Acapulco Gold power amp distortion pedal.
Throughout February, Thelma and the Sleaze are touring and tearing through the Southeastern and Midwest United States.
