Triads are simple chords, comprising of three notes. But there are ways of playing them on electric guitar that can make them sound really exciting and engaging. By using “spread triads”, with wide intervals between each note, you can add an epic, soaring sound to solos – turning a simple concept into an advanced guitar technique!
In this easy-to-follow guitar tutorial, Elixir Strings artist Massimo Varini takes you through the basics of the technique with a couple of musical examples. Players like Eric Johnson use wide intervals to great effect, and spread triads are a great route into exploring this powerful, super-melodic secret sauce!
