ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.
The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

The Double Drop Clutch gives double bass players three different hi hat sounds that normal drop clutches are not able to do. There are two color coded levers that allow the player to achieve two different open settings; the partially open sizzle sound, as well as the wide open sound with the foot engaged in normal hi hat operation. Once the clutch is completely disengaged, the hi hat drops and gives off a closed sloshy sound when played. This clutch gives players an additional hi hat sound they are not able to get without using an X hat while playing double bass. In this video Gibraltar Artist, Aquiles Priester, demonstrates how the double drop clutch works.

In this bass guitar lesson, Elixir Strings artist Derek Jones demonstrates how to use hammer-ons and pull-offs together for a driving, percussive feel. Following on from his hammer-ons video lesson, Derek illustrates the techniques using a simple major and minor pentatonic lick using 16th and 8th notes. As always, pay attention to the volume between plucked, hammered and pulled notes and add some fresh, funky feel to your grooves!

Combining a variety of left hand techniques will really help add some life to your basslines. Plucked notes, hammer-ons and pull-offs are all useful tools in the armory, with different attack and tonal qualities that are essential for coming up with cool parts.
