Known for looping & layering instruments live, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Elise Trouw joins us in celebrating #WomensHistoryMonth.
At the age of 6, Elise heard the beginning piano riff in Evanescence’s “My Immortal” & immediately became intrigued with the instrument. After asking her parents for piano lessons, from there, her career as a musician bloomed. For Trouw, playing the keys is very rhythmic, like playing the drums with your fingers, & if you’ve ever had the pleasure of watching Elise compose her music from start to finish, you’ll find it absolutely captivating.
Little Dragon’s, Yukimi Nagano, whose artistry shines in every piece of work she composes, to Meshell Ndegeocello for her free exploration of genres in her distinct music, Elise’s influences span from so many different artists.
Elise enjoys the connections she has made with many other women in music & she has experienced all different sides of how being a woman in the industry can affect different aspects of her path, however, no matter what the experience, she would rather be seen as a musician first and foremost for her talents. She encourages everyone in the industry to stick to what they believe in, be confident & go with their gut. Elise hopes that younger girls in the industry who see her accomplishments, such as her custom signature drumstick collaboration with Vater Percussion & her most recent EP collaboration “Losing Sleep” with producer KOIL, feel inspired to get into music!
