Astral Destiny First Impression: Cello Azul | EarthQuaker Devices

Cello Azul, (a.k.a cellist Hector Ortiz, also of the Long Beach Latinx band The Corner House) puts the new EarthQuaker Devices Astral Destiny through some of its echo-y paces. Ortiz, using an expression pedal to control the reverb wet/dry mix, creates a groovy little loop tune with assistance from our Hummingbird tremolo pedal. Next, Ortiz improvises a deep, soothing and meditative melody over a simmering looped bass line with assistance from the EQD Space Spiral modulated delay, his husband, and some boost and EQ from the Tone Job. Azul also incorporates the Astral Destiny’s innovative stretch feature and Sub and Abyss modes of the Astral Destiny’s eight unique Reverberation modes.
