Welcome to the Academy of Tone.
In Academy of Tone 146 three guitarists with different backgrounds and approaches come together to share their experiences and insights on how to become better guitarists. Thomas Blug, also known as the "Stratking of Europe," meets Justin Hombach, a studied prog-metal shredder, and Fabian Ratsak, a brilliant all-around guitarist and teacher who has been a guest on AOT for three times already.
Throughout the episode, the three guitarists discuss how they developed their own unique styles, how they practice and learn new techniques and songs, and what their secrets are for becoming better musicians. The main focus of this episode is to highlight what we can learn from these different approaches and help viewers pick the things that will help them become better guitarists.
Justin Hombach is a seasoned prog-metal pro who plays in the MEGALIVE, a Megadeath tribute band and has an endorsement with Ibanez guitars. He studied jazz guitar and became an expert on Dream Theatre’s guitarist, John Petrucci. He has developed his own course called "Zen of Speed Picking," which helps guitarists optimize their picking technique.
Fabian Ratsak has made a name for himself as a great guitarist in a wide range of styles, from Yngwie Malmsteen to John Mayer, and has been a guest on AOT three times already. Thomas Blug is mainly self-taught, but has created his own style and released many guitar tutorials, as well as his own concepts for teaching.
Throughout the episode, viewers will be treated to some interesting concepts, lessons, and tips on how to master the electric guitar. In addition to their different approaches on the instrument, the three guitarists also use different gear, but all share one piece of gear in common: BluGuitar’s AMP1s.
Overall, this episode of Academy of Tone promises to be an informative and enjoyable experience for guitarists of all levels, as the three guitarists share their experiences and insights to help viewers become better guitarists.
