A Monster Voice, The Newton Channel, and Sean Schemmel

Sean Schemmel has been a professional voice actor for over two decades, and is most well-known for voicing the character Goku in the English-language version of the ‘Dragon Ball’ franchise.

As a long-time user of Rupert Neve Designs equipment – a 5052, 5051, and Shelford Channel make up his normal recording rig – we’d had many discussions with Sean over the years about a channel strip for voice acting & voiceover work. After we developed the Newton Channel, we were eager to hear his thoughts on its use for voice actors & voiceover work, so we met him at NYAV Post in Los Angeles to record some voices, learn more about his world, and see how he would use this channel strip to do what he does best.
