On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas is joined by special guest Manuel Kettenring to talk about the newest developments with AMPX, upcoming music industry events, and also to speak in detail about the future of the humble bricks and mortar guitar store.
First, AMPX: Thomas and team are continuously working on the flagship BluGuitar amp, and there’s some juicy new details to be shared! Thomas will talk about the current state of affairs with the amp, how things are going, and who knows, you might even get to hear a few more sounds.
This info is also going to be relevant for any of you who are attending any of the upcoming guitar events in Germany: first comes the Mannheim Guitar Summit on September 9-11, and then we have Musikhaus Kirstein MusiConnect 2022 on September 17. And yes, AMPX will be at those events. Our good friend Manuel Kettenring, who works at Kirstein, is here to talk all about MusiConnect, where Thomas is a headlining guest, and the guys will also discuss the Guitar Summit, the growing popularity of such events, and more.
In the second half of the show, the guys will move on to traditional music stores. As the global situation continues to be difficult and online stores get stronger, it’s becoming harder and harder for physical stores to stay competitive. Thomas and Manuel will look at the ways music stores can stay relevant, and how they can fight to win customers from the bigger online competition.
Of course, there will be plenty of music on the show too: Manuel will bring his own AMP1-based rig along, and he and Thomas will jam along to some classic rock tracks and showcase some top hard rock tones. Manuel of course plays the AMP1 Iridium Edition, and he’s a big fan of 80s bands and tones, so the guys will hook the amp up to a few overdrives, boost pedals and choruses – and more – and get a few sounds from that decade to inspire you!
