On this week’s Academy Of Tone, and following huge demand, we’re taking a second dive into Ozzy Osbourne’s guitar players – and in particular, the great Randy Rhoads – with Thomas and his very special guest Alex Beyrodt! A heavy metal guitarist through and through, Alex is a massive Randy Rhoads fan (Rhoads was one of his biggest musical inspirations) and he’s also had many real-life run-ins with some of Ozzy’s other guitarists. So, Alex will bring a bunch of his favorite gear – which just so happens to be Randy/Ozzy inspired! – to Thomas’s studio to test it all out, and tell some great stories about it all.
In particular, there’s a special Randy-inspired guitar to show – Alex’s one-off white Maybach Lester single cut and a guitar with the same pickups that Zakk Wylde uses – and a bunch of effects that help us to get into that Ozzy/Randy tonal ballpark, including overdrives, and the Boss CE-3 stereo chorus.
What’s more, Alex will bring his Universal Audio Ox Box with him, where he has a bunch more Randy Rhoads special tricks to show off… This includes another Ox Box stereo chorus sound, as well as the Rhoads speaker setup in IR form!
As usual, the guys will also have AMP1s and the BluBOX on hand to show you how to get as close to these legendary tones as possible using only BluGuitar gear, and Alex will also share stories about his time spent with Gus G, Zakk Wylde, and others.
Optional: Plus, we have a short interview with Christof Leim, editor at Germany’s iconic Metal Hammer magazine. Christof has spent lots of time around the likes of Zakk Wylde, and is currently writing a book about his experiences on the frontline with a number of Ozzy’s six-stringers! There’s sure to be plenty of juicy stories in there…
On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas is joined once again by our good friend Alex Beyrodt! Alex has a killer new record coming this year, and the AMP1 Iridium Edition is all over it. Thomas and Alex will discuss the tones, the music and what else Alex been doing since lockdown hit.
Plus, Alex’s new album is inspired by Led Zeppelin, and this year marks 50 years since the iconic Led Zeppelin IV album was released. Thomas and Alex will discuss the influence that record has had on music, and Thomas will also showcase some of the Zeppelin-influenced tracks from his band Dreist.
Finally, it’s 2021, and that means AMP X is go! There will be a short FAQ session where Thomas answers more of your pertinent questions on the next game changing BluGuitar product… don’t miss it!
