Academy Of Tone #74: Live from Hamburg’s legendary Reeperbahn Festival with special guest Nils Finkeisen
On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas is live on location from Hamburg’s legendary Reeperbahn Festival!
This musical highlight of the German calendar takes place every autumn, and Thomas is again in town to give his own masterclass, entitled ‘Blues, Blugi and BluGuitar’ (more info here!):

But of course there’s also a packed Academy of Tone episode for you as well, and this week’s guest is BluGuitar endorser Nils Finkeisen, of German industrial metal powerhouses Die Krupps. Nils will tell us all about his experiences with AMP1 Iridium Edition, and how he uses the amp on the road and in the studio.
The guys will also be joined by Thomas Weilbier, owner of Hamburg’s iconic No. 1 Guitar Center store (where Nils also works!). Thomas has been selling guitars, amps and gear for over 45 years now to players from the world famous to hobbyists and first -time students, and so he has a bunch of incredible stories to tell. Thomas was also one of the first dealers anywhere to start actively trading in vintage instruments, so the guys will discuss the rise and rise of the global vintage guitar market.
And because Reeperbahn Festival also has a pretty sweet guitar gear exhibition going on too, Thomas will definitely be trying to find a few cool bits and pieces to show on the episode. Alongside the amazing vintage guitars from Thomas, contemporary brands like PRS, Charvel, Nik Huber Guitars, Maybach, CMS Pedals, and Klotz cables are also in town, so we’ll see what they have to offer, and maybe even persuade some of their people to join Thomas for a live chat too!
