Academy Of Tone #80: Thomas and Ben Granfelt live from the studio special! Writing, recording, stories and more…
On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas is on the road and coming live from the studio with our good friend Ben Granfelt!
Ben is over in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Thomas is joining him for an album songwriting session! And this is where the episode comes from this week.
The guys are in the middle of writing an album together – Ben and Thomas are both penning tracks for a double record, and the guys are meeting to lay down the basic song parts and structures before working out the lead guitar lines later on.
In Duesseldorf, drums will be laid down by Tommy Fischer – who you’ll know as a longtime Thomas Blug collaborator and for his work behind the kit in Rock Anarchie – and bass duties are being handled by Martin Engelien, another longtime friend who also happens to own and run the studio where the guys are!
This will be a quite informal livestream and discussion. Thomas and Ben will discuss the record and the plans for it, as well as give tips on songwriting and studio recording. There might be a few spontaneous jams too, and the guys will talk about Ben’s current German tour that he’s on in October and November.
