In developing our new Classical and Flamenco guitars we started our journey in Andalucía, the beautiful most southern province of Spain and the home of the Classical guitar. Our aim was to learn more about the history, the music and construction of these amazing instruments before embarking on R&D.

We started in the small hilltop town of Vejer de la Frontera, just south of the city of Cádiz where we met, talked and worked with local luthiers and players in the Cádiz area. Over the coming months we studied four different construction styles and bracing systems and went to work building samples in our factory based on designs and guitars we made in Spain.

The result of our travels and work is something we believe is very special and we’re proud to introduce CÁDIZ SERIES.

CÁDIZ offers responsive and engaging nylon string guitars of a quality and playability we think you’ll adore. Everything about them is considered and chosen. They are a new shape, different to Classicals we have made in the past, slightly taller, slightly narrower, more elegant. The soundbox is more lightly built, the tops are graduated and each brace is custom cut and sanded with 4 varying widths in total.

The bracing design gives a slight nod to that of the Jose Ramirez III’s asymmetric architecture in the fact our guitars have a treble bar. This is to stiffen up the treble side of the top a little more which helps us create very round, bell like trebles on our first three strings. We keep the bass side of the top light by using slightly thinner braces which helps us give the player very open, clear and strong bass response.

In order to make the guitars as responsive as we could, we had to keep them as light as we could in construction while staying true to traditional design. So in the standard models there are no trussrods. Our necks are three-piece and a solid Ebony centre rod gives us the strength and lightness we need. Our Hybrid models do have a trussrod to allow for relief to be adjusted on the radiused fingerboards. CÁDIZ models are also made with a Spanish heel neck joint.

Ramirez and other great luthiers also influenced us when it came to choosing our scale length. The CÁDIZ scale length is longer than the standard 650mm (25.6”) you will find on many classical guitars. At 660mm (26.”) our scale length raises the tension just a little and helps deliver more energy into the soundbox for us to harness and shape.

Other fine appointments include the use of traditional Cypress wood for our Flamenco model back and sides, which is paired with ebony binding. Our classical models are stunning with dark Walnut back and sides and Acacia binding. We use AA Sitka tops on all CÁDIZ models. Saddle and nut are real bone, rosettes are wood mosaic and bridges and fingerboards are Pau Ferro.

We believe CÁDIZ will engage any player, whether a seasoned professional or someone looking for different tones from an engaging nylon string guitar. We hope they will create an intimacy between you and the instrument and as always we have done all we could to make beautifully designed instruments, as affordable as we would.

This CC7 is our beautiful Classical Hybrid model made from Sitka and Walnut with a flawless gloss finish and acacia binding and armrest. It has a 14th Fret neck joint, radius fingerboard and narrower nut width making it a great guitar for steel string players looking for a Nylon string sound without such a departure from a steel string in terms of feel and playability.

ADAM Audio was founded in March 1999 in Berlin. Since then the company has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeakers in the field of Professional Audio.

The development of the X-ART (eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter based on the 1960’s invention of the Air Motion Transformer by Oskar Heil was largely responsible for the company’s founding. Producing sound not with a piston-like diaphragm as is done in most of the loudspeakers that are on the market, but using a pleated diaphragm that is capable of moving the air 4 times faster than the folds themselves are moving was the appealing idea behind it all. The achieved results were intriguing and gave ample reason for moving forward.

Artiphon Orba Shorts #15: Tilt Lead Preset

Bend notes with Tilt? Yes, please. ✈️

Take a moment to try out the Tilt Lead preset, where Tilt is mapped to pitch bend. This preset will work in the Orba app but is also a blast to play in GarageBand and other apps.

For the more brave sonic explorers: adjust Pitch Bend Scaling in the settings menu to raise the pitch by different amounts: like one semitone instead of two.

In conceptualizing Artist Elite, our goal was simple: Produce a collection of guitars beyond comparison.

There are of course many wonderful guitars available, and some are every inch as beautiful as Artist Elite, but we don’t know of any that offer the same value.

This stunning line of guitars is the culmination of years of R&D that allows us to produce custom style instruments from amazing tone woods with a truly radiant vibe. Artist Elite look amazing, sound rich and offer a level of fit and finish rarely attainable at such price points.

The AGFM80CEAR is a beautifully developed Grand Auditorium that delivers in terms of both of tone and looks. The minimal styling of this guitar really creates a classy vibe with the light blonde of the spruce and maple framed with Ebony. Tonally this guitar has a robust voice, with shimmering trebles and plenty of low end and an instant response. It also offers added functionality and comfort with its cutaway and slim style bevel armrest, making the AGFM80CEAR a great looking, versatile instrument.

Master Luthiers around the world have been crafting bevel edged armrest guitars for many years. The feature not only makes the guitar more comfortable to play, but also allows the maker to demonstrate their skill and craftsmanship in producing beautiful instruments.

After 50 years of making guitars, continual improvement through the use of emerging technologies, processes, and materials is still at the heart of our culture. Alvarez guitars are constructed correctly in every sense from raw material preparation to construction and manufacturing processes. Our tone woods are carefully cured; our components such as neck blocks and wood joints are carefully designed. The painting, sanding and polishing techniques we use are continually researched and developed, and our tone is impeccably crafted and married to a stable, designed and lively sound box.

The term “solid top” of course refers to the soundboard of an acoustic guitar being made of solid wood, rather than being laminated. However, just because the top is solid, it does not necessarily mean the sound automatically benefits from this feature. The tone of the instrument only improves significantly when the whole guitar is built correctly to optimize the energy a solid soundboard can generate. Artist Series is built to do exactly this.

Each model is designed to get the best out of its components, and for them to work together to produce balance, lively projection and great response. These components include bracing architecture that is specifically designed for each body shape or tonal requirement. Our Bi-level bridge is designed to heighten string tension and improve sustain and response. Real bone nut and saddle, premium tone woods and our crafted attenuated finish all further the quality of construction and positively impact the performance of the instrument.

This caring approach to development comes from one simple goal: To deliver the best guitars in the market at every price point, instruments that are truly amazing value and offer a fantastic player experience.

Thank you for choosing Alvarez.
