On this week’s show, Thomas and Rich are celebrating a year of Academy Of Tone! It’s hard to believe that Thomas did the very first episode a whole year ago, but it’s been an amazing journey so far with some truly amazing guests along the way… so he’ll start by sharing some of his favorite memories from the shows in the last 12 months! We’d love it if you could also comment in the Chat with your AoT highlights, and we’ll discuss all the best bits.
Plus there’s a special focus on Iridium this week – from Thomas’s personal perspective. As you know, Thomas is perhaps not the natural customer for Iridium and its face-melting metal tones, but there are many things he loves about this amp. And of course, we all know it can do far more than ‘just’ metal.
So Thomas and Rich will go through the AMP1 Iridium Edition alongside the Mercury, comparing the channels and sounds, and talking about which of the amps are best in which setting.
And to dig in even deeper, we’ll show some great A/B AMP1 Iridium edition clip versus the competition from the recent Hamburg trip Thomas made! He and Nils Finkeisen do an epic shootout where it’s Iridium against four classic hard rock and metal amps: the Fortin Sigil, the REVV Generator, the Diezel VH2 and VH4, and a boutique modded Marshall JCM800 (with mods by the legendary German modder Manfred Reckmeyer, no less!). It’s going to get loud!
Finally there’s also a bunch of awesome Iridium videos to share with you! We’ll have some killer clips from awesome videos by our friends Jason Frankhouser, Klebershima and Edu Ardanuy, and a playing clip from the progressive metal powerhouse John Browne.
