On this week’s Academy Of Tone, Thomas is joined by special guest and German music industry stalwart Frank Fleckenstein!
Long-time BluGuitar fans will be more than familiar with Frank, of course – he helped Thomas and the BluGuitar team during the development of the AMP1 Iridium Edition, and also appeared in a number of BluGuitar videos explaining the amp and showing off its killer heavy tones.
Frank’s background working in music stores and playing in bands in genres as varied as modern metal, pop, folk, blues and stoner rock has certainly given him a wide appreciation of guitar music and tones, and Frank is also something of a pedal specialist, having formed his own FX company – FFX Pedals – in recent years.
FFX Pedals has already found a lot of love among FX aficionados, and Frank and Thomas will show you exactly why the All You Can Boost and Sir Reel pedals should be on your wish list if you’re looking to up your tonal game.
Frank’s also going to delve into his own personal musical background and talk about his life as a player and his top guitar influences. He’s also bringing some of his favorite gear to show off, including his Morgan SW 50 R, Engl Ritchie Blackmore Signature Edition and Ampete TWO amps, and a variety of guitars. This will be the perfect opportunity for the guys to look into every facet of guitar tone: from vintage cleans to 21st century metal and everything in-between!
As Frank particularly loves metal and high-gain tones though, the guys will also discuss the best pickup choices for different heavy (and not so heavy!) styles – even single coils – and more.
