The Bosch Communications family of professional audio brands was in full effect at the recent Prolight + Sound expo in Guangzhou, China (May 16-19). Our team appreciated the opportunity to meet with customers face-to-face after a year of social distancing, sharing our latest sound reinforcement solutions with the impact that only an “in-person” event can deliver.

The booth concept? Unbounded Sound, in which various application environment “scenes” – such as a theatre or a stadium – were equipped with examples of the almost limitless cross-domain solutions our brands can work together to provide.

The 1st Hong Kong International Chromatic Harmonica Competition 2022 is an unprecedented multi-faceted musical event presented by the Hong Kong Harmonica Association. With a variety of fringe initiatives and innovative components, this momentous event promotes global exchanges and local awareness of harmonica culture.

Date: 26 April 2022 – 1 May 2022

Venue: Hong Kong City Hall

Cash Prize: An added cash prize of HKD 1,000 (equivalent to approx. USD 130 or EURO 110) would be awarded to each of the Top 80 contestants in the preliminary round (Stage 1) of the competition.

This week’s guest is Griffin Goldsmith, drummer for the band Dawes. He has also worked with countless artists such as Jackson Browne, John Fogerty, Robbie Robertson, Jim Keltner, Elvis Costello, Sharon Von Etten, Angel Olson, Jenny Lewis, Bahamas and the list goes on and on. He’s recently added film scoring to his list of accomplishments. His delicate and deliberate touch is timeless and honors the gold standard of what it means to be a studio musician. Conversations like this are why I get so excited every week to talk to the best drummers of the day. Griffin’s choices are sourced from the apex of human artistry behind the kit and I know you will all be better drummers after hearing what he has to say. That being said, the audio on this one wasn’t the best. As a sign of the times, we had to resort to zoom audio for most of this. I pride myself in trying to get the best audio for you guys, but heyyyy…as Dawes says, “Things happen; that’s all they ever do”. Please enjoy my conversation with Griffin Goldsmith…also please go down a rabbit hole of his playing, not only throughout the entire Dawes catalogue, but all the artists I just mentioned.
