UK bass trio Gentlemens Club cook up 3 beats in 30 minutes using just 1 sample

Our mates @Gentlemens Club love a challenge. So we asked them to find one audio sample inside the Reason+ Companion and then spend 30 minutes each on a track based around that sample.

Which was your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Would you like to see what you can do with the same sample? Here it is: https://we.tl/t-TDFLTy5XJM

If you’re struggling to come up with interesting and unique basslines, try switching up your workflow and use a drum pattern sequencer to generate weird and wonderful basslines for your productions. Reason’s Player MIDI Effects are a great way to experiment—try using Beat Map, typically used on drums for generating new bass ideas. Throw on some of Reason’s creative effects and you’ll have yourself something totally unique sounding in no time!

Have a Chord Progression? Generate a PERFECT Bassline in 2 Steps!

For those of you who don’t live on the back of Reason’s Rack, you may have missed a feature included in our newest Player, Chord Sequencer.

There are two CV Outputs, named Root Note CV Out and Chord Gate Out. By using these two outputs, you can easily create an accompanying bassline to go with your chord progression. Of course, this is a very simple tip and you’re free to go WAY deeper, but if you haven’t tried this out yet, go give it a go!

One of the most powerful features inside Chord Sequencer is called "External Trigger Mode", which allows you to control the rhythm of your chord progression (which is setup in Chord Sequencer) with other devices inside the Reason Rack. For example, throw a Drum Sequencer on top of Chord Sequencer and you can now add interesting and unique rhythms to your chord progressions. This is a really sure fire way to find new grooves and explore new styles. Give it a try! #reasongang
